History

Since its foundation in 2012 the team has experienced year on year improvement in it’s on track performance at the Formula Student SIlverstone event. 2018/19 was a pinnacle year in our teams history. XR06 was the first of XRacing's cars, and 33 out of 84 in that year's event, to compete in all dynamic events.

2020/21 will be our 9th year of competing at Formula Student and will hopefully bring with it the introduction of XRacing's first EV entry. With each year come new developments. Our most recent car is the culmination of many years hard work and can be tracked right back to our first car at the teams inception.

2019/20 - Statics Position 34/66, Dynamics Position 13/34

2018/19 - Position 64/81

2017/18 - Position 47/81

XR07 focused on design refinement on weak areas identified from XR06. The primary design goals were to significantly reduce unsprung mass, improve drivability, and improve reliability.

It featured the same naturally aspirated Honda CBR600RR engine found in XR06 with a new electronic throttle control system. XR07 sadly could not compete in the 2020 Formula Student competition due to the global pandemic. Virtual Competitions took place instead.

XR06 featured a Honda CBR600RR engine. Initial designs and testing included a turbocharger, however, due to the teams time pressures and the complete failure of a turbocharger, the car entered the event as a naturally aspirated engine. XR06 reused the above engine and a Drexler differential from previous years. New engine mounting plates were required for the new chassis. The car featured a push rod suspension design. XR06 was running some weeks before the competition and was able to compete in all dynamic events.
